The Good Stuff

Working with new subjects can always be a slightly stressful time. Wondering if they will like your ideas, will you vibe with each other, will they get bored, etc. Yes all these things and many more go through my head before a shoot. But then the shoot starts and the ideas are hittin’ and they love the previews. You realize “ehh I worried for nothing”

(story of my life)

After the shoot and you get some images processed and returned to your subject and they love them it makes you feel relieved. But then you get that message that hits different. That one that they tell you they have struggled with their body image, or their weight, or they were made fun of and they didn’t feel beautiful or sexy. But, seeing the way I captured them made them feel amazing. Made them feel those things they weren’t able to feel before. That’s the good stuff!!!

Black Sand

So the other night Michael and I had a beach sunset shoot planned. With work and adult life neither of us get much camera time anymore. So of course we were both looking forward to it. All afternoon it stormed..and when I say stormed I mean stormed. Thunder, close lightning strikes, torrential downpour, wind and some places even got hail. We watched the weather closely, checking app every 15-30 minutes and decided rain would move out by the time we were at location. So we moved forward with shoot. With subject in tow, through the rain we arrived at our location. Checked the weather app again..weather shifted ever so slightly and we had about an hour til rain moved out. So we waited…Once it let up we hiked down the beach to our spot.. beach was fairly empty..SCORE!! There were storm clouds in the distance and a beautiful lightning show. We had overcast skies, a nice breeze and black sand on the beach. Our subject, Katelyn, was more than happy to get dirty. Great things come to those who wait!

Getting Started

My 1st post. Don't hate it, embrace it. I don't consider myself a "writer" per say. My words often get jumbled so just give me time to figure this out. Until then, let the images speak for themselves.
